Not a reference to the elections, although it is extremely fitting in reference to them...

The intentions are selected a year beforehand, when the Superior General of the Jesuits meets with the Holy Father. That is to say, at the end of the month, we'll have the intentions for 2010.

Good call, Michelle! I was going to say that the intentions having been written beforehand is a good sign, a comforting note to us from the Holy Spirit, Who of course is not "surprised" by the outcome of our elections.
