Gravatar It will probably end up being someone we've never heard of!

Unless you have something more that you aren't telling us about (wink), it's all coincidental. Also, there are many other dioceses.

While he has many good qualifications for Detroit, the languages he speaks (spanish, creole, and haitian), aside from Spanish would seem to serve best down south.

Gravatar I'm closer to Diane on this one, than to Thom.

Gravatar Think about the dioceses in need of a creole & haitian speaking bishop.

I'll put my money is on Bishop Vigneron.

Gravatar Oops. I should mention that Bishop Wenski speaks spanish, creole, and haitian.

Gravatar Nuts. I already wrote that. Coffee not working. Must hve more cofee

Gravatar Diane , I hope it is Bishop Vigneron, who is very supportive of the TLM. Tom

Gravatar Good afternoon:

While there is speculation that our bishop might go to Detroit, the "evidence" rendered by Mr. Peters is not all that pressing. Cardinal Maida was here on a visit that had been scheduled for well over a year. He was attending the PAPA (an American-Polish priests' club) convention which our Diocese agreed to host back in late 2006.

The naming of monsignori is timed with the handing out of many papal and diocesan awards at an event called "The Festival of Faith". This is a state-wide gathering meant to celebrate our 40th as a Diocese and promote the bishop's $150M capital campaign.

Finally, there is no movement here on the ground as to a transition.

Take all of this as you will.

Gravatar Bishop Wenski has also been conciliatory on issues involving Islam.

Another important consideration, given Metro Deroit's Muslim population.

But I think the good Orlando Father's cautions are well-taken. I've heard so many plausible rumors involving Detroit that I'm going to wait until the installation to speculate.

Gravatar I've talked to a couple Detroit priests, and the feeling is that Wenski is on "the short list", along with Vigneron and even Carlson in Saginaw. Speculation is that the appointment will be made sometime between April 29 (when Bp Boyea is officially installed in Lansing) and June 29 (bishop's meeting in Rome).

Detroit is slowly heading in the right direction - the right appointment at the top would help scatter the Call to Action hold outs and other heterodox hoo-doos.

Gravatar If Bishop Wenski leaves Orlando, I pray he is replaced by someone of equal or greater orthodox caliber. I am not sure Orlando can survive under another Miami shepherd.

Gravatar Bishop Wenski seems like a great choice. I would also be very pleased with one of our newest auxiliary bishops, Bishop Daniel Flores. He is quickly gaining a great reputation for fidelity and wonderful pastoral ability.

Here's a link to Bishop Daniel Flores' profile.

Call to Action? Have you seen the Elephants in the Living Room?

Oy vey.

Gravatar Diane - I have heard of the Elephants. I single them out in my new blog Acts of the Apostasy, at http://actsoftheapostasy.blogspot.com
