For many years, during hurricane season the Sunday prayers of the faithful at every parish in the Archdiocese of New Orleans have included a petition to Our Lady of Prompt Succor -- patroness of New Orleans -- for her intercession as protection against hurricanes and all other disasters.

We did this for years in our parish here in the Orlando Diocese.
Wenski is not the author nor orginator of this idea.

Let the True Faith prevail.
I say this because I remember Pat Robertson's ill-fated comment about hurricanes are the sign of God's wrath against homosexuals--whereupon a major storm swerved north to plow thru the PTL tv station.
I admit, I'd love to see a prayer meeting versus an Indian rain dance over making it rain.

Yep, wasn't claiming Wenski started this. That's why I called it an "example." I'm happy to hear the practice is widespread.
I wonder what the limits are. Would you pray, for instance, for no earthquakes? I do believe remembering priests praying for no aftershocks after a major earthquake.
