Gravatar ... and no, I don't mean the state of IL. :)

Gravatar Thomas, Indiana. Seriously.

Gravatar gah.

Gravatar Trying . . .
not . . .
to . . .
be snippy . . .

Gravatar These chicks aren't the types to let themselves be tied down by traditional marriage, etc. What else is a Liberal Feminazi to do?

Gravatar I'm sure the God is happy that a school that has the name of his blessed mother is showing that play.

Gravatar 'In a March 10 statement, Father Jenkins said: “Notre Dame’s policy on controversial events rests on the conviction that truth will emerge from reasoned consideration of issues in dialogue with faith. …[I]t is, in my judgment, the action that best serves the distinctive mission of Notre Dame.”'

I just read this and laughed. Seriously, why don't you just invite neo-nazi white supremisits to preach the students at Notre Dame. I'm sure it would lead to some "diologe," more like riots.

Gravatar Father Jenkins is generally pretty traditional. So I'm a bit surprised he continues to cave into the whims of these left-wing loons, Harvard wannabees. These doubleknit Midwestern dinosaurs delusionally believe that somehow this makes Notre Dame on the "cutting edge." Big yawn. It's so yesterday. I agree with Lissa

Gravatar Women talking about enjoying their bodies? Not in MY university they aren't!

Gravatar To be fair though, the university administration is emphasizing that: a) the university and all Catholics are disgusted by the Monologues, but they are being allowed ONLY out of deference to free speech, and b) the Catholic club would then deliver impromptu Catechesis on Catholic sexual teaching, with the full endorsement and encouragement of Notre Dame to do so...I think that's the best way to approach the play..second to well, NOT approaching it at all...

Gravatar rhiannon, I don't see how that's "fairness" in the first place, or how it justifies this play in any case.

if this play so thoroughly ridiculed the beliefs of ANY other group besides Catholics, there is not snowball's chance in hell it would be hosted.

this is simply the 6th time Notre Dame leadership has completely caved into cowardice.

and, btw, just how many times does ND need to host this trash to prove that it is a supporter of free speech?

Gravatar A defiant thumb in the eye of the Faith. It's real-life trolling. And speaking of trolling:

"Women talking about enjoying their bodies? Not in MY university they aren't!"

How much longer?

Gravatar hohum, just tryin' to find the silver lining...that the people watching the play will also be required to listen to Catholic sexual ethics. Also, not everyone who goes one year will go the next, so there's a turnover of new audience to the material. I wish some other Catholic colleges (no names to protect the very guilty) would do the same with such questionable content.

Gravatar hohum, just tryin' to find the silver lining

I can understand that. But eventually one has to reject the liberal death wish of tolerating people bent on your destruction. To wit: It's pointless to engage and point out errors in one turd when a college allows its students to be knee-deep and rising in sewage.

Gravatar Look, I'm a student at this school. I saw the play. It wasn't that big a deal. The play neither endorses nor promotes a particular sexual ethic. Above all else, it rejects violence against women. There are some 'healthy' doses of sexual humor. This is isn't very different from comedy shows put on by some of the male dorms on campus which feature generous doses of sexual humor and 'objectification' of women. I don't see conservatives and bishop D'Arcy griping about these performances.

The Catholic character of Notre Dame, and it is by far a better and more prestigious Catholic university than BC on the one hand and Franciscan U. on the other.
