Just felt like crying this morning but I am going to take your advice, pour a new cup of coffee and keep going. The readings today were awesome and the passage of certain propositions uplifting. Thanks for all your hard work in keeping us informed.

Can I have a cup of tea, instead? I never developed a taste for coffee. I like the smell and all, but the taste, nope.

I read your blog everyday and have done so for months now. You do an excellent job explaining things and opening my eyes to the world around me. Thanks for being out there!

I don't remember how I found American Papist. I think it was during the Pope's visit. I remember sending a link to the picture of the bishops in the dugout to everyone in my family. Love that.
Anyway, thanks for what you do. I haven't seen another site that combines the Catholic perspective with the energy of youth. It's a fabulous combination, and makes me hopeful.
Be not afraid.

You know, we can cry and weep for this election, but I see it as an opportunity to "gird my loins" and stand firm. I think all of us who call ourselves Catholic cannot moan and groan because we have hope in the Lord and in his life, death and resurrection.
We may be put to the test. Bring it on! We might be excoriated. So what? We might be even more persecuted-which for many other nations produced saints.
So, my good fellow Catholics, buck up! Be strong in the Lord! Be open to refinement, because we affect the culture in our own daily choices no matter how small. NOW is the time as never before to deeper conversion in the small things so that the larger things will change. Will this Pres-elect work towards things like socialism and against the unborn? Probably, but what are we doing on a day to day basis that changes hearts of mothers, doctors, one another? Tragic though his decisions might be, we have to buckle down and do more than our part to serve the Lord and his Church.
We are not called to despair. We are called to Hope in the Lord. After all, he has the victory. After Friday comes Sunday!

Certainly, the AmP is an excellent place to come for Roman Catholic perspective on current issues and events. But in the vast majority of those cases, the perspective Amp offers is highly beneficial to a broader audience--namely, concerned Christians generally who wish to be orthodox in belief, practice, and witness in our contemporary milieu. My theological position is that of evangelical Christianity, interpreted from a Reformed perspective; and like Mandy, I have been visiting the AmP on a daily basis for months. In light of the recent developments in our nation, I believe that all of us--without ignoring our differences, but rather recognizing that our commonalities dwarf those differences--will need to stand and struggle together as never before. Thanks for keeping us informed, Tom. God's blessings to you, and keep up the good work!

Fred Barnes put it well when he said that we don't which Obama we have elected: the one who ran for presidential office (in which case he will govern from the center, pace abortionism, and reign in the ideologues esp. in the House), or the Obama who held ILL and US senate offices (in which case he will govern from the far Left and fan the flames of statism).
But we'll know pretty soon.

Thanks for all your hard work in keeping us informed-and giving us a few laughs when we feel down, Thomas!
jenb-I read your 'call to arms', and it gave me a little bit of a lift (even though I'm still 'in a funk' over the election results).
Yet I still have to remember what St. Teresa of Avila said in her Bookmark Prayer: 'All things are passing....God alone suffices'.

In conspiracy circles, the "black pope" refers to the head of the Jesuits who supposedly really controls the pope.
Conspiracy nuts think that the Jesuits are agents of the devil and control the church so as to control the world.
Crazy lunatics.

Tuesday evening was tough. With sinking heart and head in hands, I asked "What can we do?".
So we pray. For the prez-elect, the Congress and our nation. For conversions of hearts and minds. And by last evening, the question had become, "What will I do?"
What a diff a day makes, hmm?
Finally had a chance to view your interview with Archbishop Chaput with my morning "tay". Excellent vid, excellent green tea! Also liked his shameless AmP plug at the end ...

Tuesday was a great day for America. Although I disagree with most of what you say, I'm glad your site is around for reasons I've mentioned in the past. Pax.

I'm going to take a cue from Joel over at Southern Appeal and avoid Obama Derangement Syndrome, even though that courtesy was not extended with things like the "Chimpy McHitler" stuff which was vile to say the least. Gallantry is the order of the day, not imitating the worst among the people we disagree with.

Can't fathom how you call this website "Catholic" or claim to report or comment from a "Catholic" perspective. Try speaking for yourself. Try even becoming acquainted with Catholic doctrine.
