Gravatar Yeah. Colbert doesn't always hit a home run.

It's too bad that in making a joke, he makes the Church his joke.

Gravatar Colbert is a funny guy. Sometimes, that humor is just simply needed. :)

Gravatar They would find a Jesuit to put on and not be funny. Comedy Central implies that this should be funny, it wasn't. I'm disappointed in Steven.

Gravatar I thought that was pretty good and there was a good amount of serious discussion underlying well-placed humor.

Gravatar Your right Tom, not Colber'ts best interview. However, I did notice that unlike just about every other person he has on the show and tells them "I am not reading your book", this was the first time I heard him say "I'm reading and really liking your book".

You should figure out a way to get on the Colbert Report.

Gravatar "You should figure out a way to get on the Colbert Report."

I couldn't sleep and was watching the late night encore of Oprah (which i normally avoid like the plague), and on this episode a couple of girls pestered her so much with, e-mails, letters and videos on you-tube requesting a band to be on her show that she actually did have the band and invite the girls to come to the taping. So we all need to make obnoxious videos for you-tube about how we want Tom on the Colbert report.

Gravatar I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gravatar not the funniest, but i did like the "there is no heaven, no 24 hour cloud trampolines" rant.

Gravatar Fr. Martin missed the opportunity for a great zinger when Stephen asked if we couldn't just make the pope fallible and all of US INfallible. The obvious answer...

"That's already been done. It's called Protestantism."

Gravatar Three observations:
1. Liberals like to point out how they dreaded Ratzinger's election: but how many actually read anything he wrote? I'm betting Fr.Martin hadn't read much of his work.
2. They then talk about how Ratzinger "really changed" or "grew into his job". Never that they were mistaken about him.
3. They can't seem to wrap their minds around the fact that people act differently when in different jobs. I think this is most true about academics and clerics - most of whom have never held other jobs.

Gravatar I am papist, and so can you.

This Priest apparently didn't share your enthusiasm. He said he almost killed (Read: damned) himself when B-16 was elected: While I was eating chocolate cake, his was eating crow! 8-)

Gravatar Colbert was not funny at all this time around. His ridiculing of the pontiff's physical features was churlish and unbecoming of a man whom I generally like as a comic.
