He must be a very sensitive man because sometimes he feels the need for a hug, shower or confession after reading a catholic blog...atleast he did get your name right; charlotte was both was mistakeningly called;carolines. That's an interesting thought to ask blog readers,"What do you feel most like doing after reading a catholic blog"?.Rehab?

Very well said Thomas.

Gravatar 'Doilies'? What is this, grade school?

Gravatar Excellent explanation, Tom.

As one who has interviewed thousands of people over the years for publication and been quoted hundreds of times in print, my advice: Be grateful he and his editor(s) considered you influential and important enough to quote, and even more grateful that he spelled your name correctly. If he got half of your quote(s) right, you're in good shape.

In general, most reporters are under terrific deadline pressure and have no time to give their work the second- and third drafts they would like to give. Also, they have very limited space.

It's not uncommon to interview someone for an hour and be able to only use 40 words for a quote: That comes out to one, maybe two sentences.

And finally, there no way of knowing if what the reporter wrote is what actually what appeared in print. The editor(s) often have their own agendas and make sure it is applied.

In any case, this is an outstanding blog site and you are doing a great service to the Church. You are being noticed and read by serious people, and that's the important thing.

ps. Among thinking, literate people, no apology is ever needed for the label "conservative." Russell Kirk explains what a "real" conservative is in his book, "The Conservative Mind."

Gravatar Thanks Mr. McNally, and I agree that we shouldn't allow others to hijack our vocabulary.

Gravatar I am the "traditional" Houstonian who advocates for Latin Mass, but I also play the drums for our Life Teen Mass. His comments make no sense to me. I find your blog covers many issues to agree or disagree with. Maybe it has a conservative bent, but what good would the blog be if the moderator had no stance. This is the arena of Catholic public ideas. No need to take a bath for this.

Gravatar Nat'l "Catholic" Reporter is losing its reader base because they're about all over 60 yrs old so they're going after younger bloggers. I have to LOL because no one pays attention to their opinion anymore. Good response, Tom, but I wouldn't waste anymore energy on it.

Gravatar Tom- you want NCR's approval as much as that for Catholics For Obama. Not worth wasting your time in concern. Keep on keepin on.
