One of New Line Cinema's press people emailed me back saying that ad is being removed. I saw an email exchange with Harry Forbes from another person where he had also asked them to remove the ad when he became aware of it.

A stat I read says that 70% of Catholics don't attend Mass on any given weekend.
Come to think of it, now that this movie WILL SOON BE BASED on Catholic teaching (story seems to keep changing, doesn't it?), I expect "Catholics" to turn away from this movie in droves.
Why would I want to go to a movie that's "in harmony" with Catholic teaching and a "theological masterpiece" of THE Faith...when I'm one of 7 in 10 who avoids Mass on any given weekend?? Keep me away from anything Catholic, please!
Seriously...I think I'm done worrying. I mean, what's more important? Finding the gumption to talk to my sister-in-law and her husband about the importance of getting to Mass more than once a year -OR- telling them not to go to this movie for "x, y theology-reason."
True Catholics will stay away...Catholics who give a little bit of sensibility will research and think twice...those that think, "so what?"...well, gotta evangelize so that hopefully, they'll stay away on their own.
My point is, maybe it's too late to bring up the controversy w/ someone who doesn't know the Faith...when we should have started trying to bring them closer to the Faith YESTERDAY.

Pretty sad stuff eminating from the USCCB. It has it's place, but it definately is doing a lousy job on many fronts.

I bet Steve Greydanus from decent films would love to have Forbes' job.
So, while the USCCB considers firing Forbes, we should be promoting Greydanus as a possibility to replace him. Steve's current films rating system would merge quite nicely to the Office of Media at the USCCB.
Check out his website at decentfilms.com
