Thomas,

Why don't you read the full document before commenting on how the P.C. uses its time? It's a great document that covers far more than what Diogenes, who lacks perspective, balance and theological acumen, hints. Your blog is chock full of news bites...where's the theology and political understanding? I'm afraid that after a very promising start to your blog, you have become just another run of the mill blogger with no originality. Pardon the criticism, but your blog has become a disappointment in terms of Catholic understanding and information.

61. In any case, with the request for motorists to exercise virtue, we have drawn up a special "decalogue" for them, in analogy with the Lord's Ten Commandments. These are stated here below, as indications, considering that they may also be formulated differently.

I. You shall not kill.

II. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm. . . . .

(Great, now I have a mental picture of Cardinal Martino in the back seat of a typical New York cab during rush hour reading off the ten commandments of pastoral road care . . . )

Gravatar CoffeeGuyTX, it's my point precisely that my time is better spent reading things that give sound theological and political information rather than amazingly particular, practical, even "common sense" advice. I also made an admission regarding the more substantive content of the statement. The blog is chock full of newsbits because the remainder of my life is very busy right now preparing for precisely the course of studies and reading that will eventually yield theological and political understanding, in the meantime I'm trying to provide people with a service that many find helpful. I'm sorry you don't find any originality on the blog, and welcome your criticism. Hopefully things pick up more to your liking in the coming months once I get a bit of a breather. :)
