Tom, The post of this "lady" reminds me of folks who drive down the street with "Mean People Suck" bumper stickers on the back of their car...totally clueless of how mean that bumper sticker is. Irony!

That how much time website calls McCain/Palin "the most anti-choice ticket in history," which is strangely symmetrical to Obama/Biden being the most pro-death ticket in history.
Is it really true that McCain/Palin is the most anti-choice (of mothers kill their own children) ticket in history? I find it hard to believe that before the 1950s any ticket would even entertain the idea of a mythical right to kill babies in the womb.

Does anyone really think that if McCain is elected that abortion will be made illegal? George Bush Jr. was president for 8 years and appointed 2 supreme court judges and for a while had republican congress yet abortion remained legal. Please explain. Or is this abortion debate simply philosphical?

No philosophy here, just practical application. When properly enacted legislation at the State level (e.g. ban on 3rd trimester abortions, or medical help for surviving fetuses) arrives at the Supreme Court, it won't be "DOA". A step in the right direction is better than no step at all.

Dave, there are more choices than A) McCain will make abortion in US illegal before his term ends and B) the abortion debate is simply philosophical. I don't have high hopes that our nation will recognize the fundamental rights of all human beings in the next 4 or 8 years, but neither do I think this election is purely philosophical.
Obama has vowed to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, abolishing the meager restrictions that currently exist on abortion in some some states, and increase government funding for abortions. So even if all McCain does is maintain the status quo, that will save more lives than if Obama were in office.

dave:
When GWB entered the WH, the Supreme Court had 6 Justices who firmly supported Roe (four of whom actually voted to uphold it in Casey v. Planned Parenthood, and two others appointed by Clinton who almost certainly are pro-Roe), and three anti-Roe Justices. Each side had a retirement during GWB's administration, so, even assuming that Roberts and Alito are anti-Roe, that still leaves a 5-4, pro-Roe majority on the Court.
As for Congress, despite the hyperbole spewed by some who think Congress can simply ride roughshod over the Courts, it is really powerless to do anything unless the Court changes its mind.
Now, it is widely assumed that Justices Stevens and Ginsburg will retire in the next 4 years. They might try to hang on if McCain wins, but Stevens is approaching 90 and Ginsburg is in incredibly frail health. Therefore, if McCain wins, he only has to bat .500 with his SCOTUS picks in order to wind up with a 5-4 anti-Roe majority on the Court. Now, we don't know for sure how things will play out, but yes, it can be reasonably assumed that Roe would be overturned. That doesn't make abortion illegal, it just means that individual states can ban it, and my guess is that very many - 20 or so - will ban abortion.

Same as overcoming slavery-- it has to be done slowly, or the whole thing goes to heck.

This shrill outburst is nothing. I heard a woman refer to bratty children as "walking abortions". That term is inconceivable to me. It just goes to show you that just when you think that things can't get any worse, or you think you've heard it all, it gets worse and you ain't heard nothing, yet.

As much as I disagree with Katherine, I think this a bad way to play it. Let's keep it classy please.

Nothing classy about supporting abortion and pretending to be Catholic.
I call a spade a spade. And poseurs like Katherine deserve censure.
