Not the least bit surprising. Love it or ignore it, the Wanderer's been on CHD's case for years. Looks like it was right on target.

This is really nuts. "assemble Barack Obama's political machine"? The articles you cite do not use such ridiculous language so why would you?

It's pretty amazing to me the wild-eyed view of community organizing that comes out in these articles. My "Homepage" links to CCHD's criteria for grants for community organizing.

Also worth checking out is CCHD's statement of principles: http://www.usccb.org/cchd/ grants...rinciples.shtml Um, Catholic teaching clearly calls for change in our institutions in favor of the poor--it also clearly opposes socialism. It's not helpful to call everything socialism that you disagree with.

I have never been more ashamed to be a Catholic than I am now.

This young fellow gave the best argument on why abortion is wrong, and covered every facet of the issue in less than 10 minutes. He's articulate, engaging, humorous and entertaining.

CCHD is the only collection that I decline to contribute to. There are some others that I have mixed feelings about, at least to the extent that I believe I could probably put the money to better use. But I contribute to them anyway, because I want to support the bishops and my diocese. But CCHD is beyond the pale. Every November, I donate to our parish food pantry in lieu of giving to CCHD. I encourage others to do some research and think twice about contributing.
