While I was in Rome I used to look out my window at the Apostolic Palace all the time. There was something comforting seeing the lights on in the Papal Apartment.

I felt that way staying at Sant'Anna hotel (on Borgo Pio). We couldn't see the hotel from our window or anything, but we were sooooo close to the papal apartment: the hotel is just outside the Vatican walls and then pretty much just around a corner. I know the wonderful feeling.

Thomas, you lucky guy.....

During three of my four trips to Rome, I stayed at the Hotel Michelangelo, just a short away from St. Peter's. Couldn't exactly see the papa apartments, but it was pretty cool to be 'living' near them!
