Gravatar I prefer late night Christian Radio - when I don't find Coast to Coast interesting.

Nothing is more fun when driving on a long trip than to go though the AM stations to find a Christian station.

My favorite has been Sister Rebecca in Alabama. "You send me twenty dollah and Sistah Rebecca will send you a Cross of Blessedness."

Gravatar Sadly, the word "Christian" denotes not only followers of Jesus, but also one more dull, automated radio format with overamplified ear-splitting sound, whose music is almost indistinguishable from most of its secular counterparts. For me, only Jars of Clay sounds authentic, but even they've pushed aside for people like Hurling Chunks, I mean Casting Crowns.

It's hard to imagine that at one time John Michael Talbot was the
number-one selling Christian music artist. I don't think he could get arrested these days.

Gravatar Thomas, thank you! I was starting to feel bad that I don't listen to EWTN and our local Catholic Radio Network (Ave Maria) more often, because frankly, I just don't like Christian music. Occasionally I will listen when it is a nice classical piece or perhaps an old Gregorian chant or Latin hymn, but the contemporary stuff? No thanks.

Gravatar Well, actually, considering I always considered "Christian Radio" to be more of a talk format, 3 out of 5 is a pretty high percentage. Which is terrible considering what crap passes as "Christian Music." Protestant radio aside, why can't the Catholic channels offer more chanting of the Divine Office at the appropriate times of day as a way to present more music. EWTN's plain reading of the Vespers is always a bit baffling to me when I would hope the friars or sisters are chanting the Office in the next room so to speak.

Gravatar I can't get EWTN on my TV or my radio, so I miss out.

Yeah, a lot of the so-called "Christian" music is too ear-splitting for my taste. Why do singers always have to 'yell'?

Give me Gregorian chant anytime....!

Gravatar EWTN world radio gets turned *OFF* when the half our of terrible music comes on every afternoon. It's just awful.

Gravatar Same goes for Ave Maria Radio and Catholic Answers. There is a a life confirming pulse found in classical music such as Mozart's which is totally lacking in the kitsch music.

Gravatar I’m not a fan of Catholic Radio at all. Sean Herriott is boring and every time I turn on Drew Mariani, he’s talking about abortion. The Catholic Faith is exciting, and there is more to talk about than abortion.
