Okay. Fine. I'd just observe, in return, that if a blogger can't address a complex issue with some insight and integrity, maybe he should an occupation he can handle, like goat herding.

Gravatar Hmm . . . some folks might find eternal damnation to be sorta the most worstest kind of "adverse effect."

Maybe one agrees with that, maybe one doesn't, but in a pluralistic and tolerant society, aren't we expected to tolerate that view?

Unless, of course, "tolerance" only means that you have to tolerate me, and not the other way around.

Gravatar "...and the only reason they could possibly have to not dispense the drugs a doctor ordered is when they know the drug may have an adverse effect..."

And a little thing like killing defenseless human beings couldn't possibly be an adverse effect?

Gravatar Birth control pills cause adverse effects- especially in large doses.

Good one dude.

Gravatar At least the author recognizes his view as "irrelevant" ... it is certainly irrelevant to reasoned dialogue

Gravatar Actally, I brought this news article to the attention of my students just today. I teach 11th grade Religion at a Catholic high school, and we just finished a unit on Conscience, so it was a perfect practical application of the idea & importance of conscience.

I can tell you that in class discussions throughout the day today, 98 percent of my students expressed ideas much like the blogger you point to, without the profanity, but with the same disdainful resentment of the idea that a pharmacist might refuse to provide drugs on moral grounds.

Gravatar So teacher - what did you do?
