God Bless,

Gravatar This is one of those few "must hear" talks for Catholics. Sort of like a Fulton Sheen homily, you simply have to have heard one in order to claim to be a culturally aware Catholic.

Gravatar I have the original tape version of that talk, which is over 90 minutes long, and I agree that it is excellent. I can not say enough good things about this talk.

But I was very disappointed when I later got a copy of the CD version. They had edited it down so that it would fit on one CD (maximum capacity for an audio CD is about 75 to 80 minutes). And it wasn't just that they took out the Q&A session (though I think they did that too) but they actually snipped out a sentence here, a sentence there, and totally ruined the flow of the talk -- at least for someone who is used to the longer version anyway.

I obtained that CD several years ago, so I hope that they have put together a better edit for the current CDs that they are distributing -- though a two-disc set or an mp3 download would be better so that people can hear the whole thing unedited.

For anyone who is interested, I digitized the tape version of the talk several years ago, after my bad experience with the CD version, and I saved it in .wav and .mp3 format on my hard drive. You can hear a 64 kbps mp3 version of it here:

(Notes: This is a rather large file, at 43 MB. Right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" to save the file locally.)

Gravatar A large collection of free audio shows with Dr. Thomas Hilgers, founder of the Pope Paul VI Institute for The Study of Human Reproduction here -

Gravatar Folks who maybe aren't so certain about spending $0.00 may try the first ten minutes for FREE over at YouTube.com:

www.audiosancto.com is another excellent place to get sermons and homilies from a really terrific priest. $0.00 is about the average cost of any recording listened to there as well.

Gravatar Admittedly, this talk is one of the best. Sorry to hear they chopped it up to put it on CD. However, she has released an updated version for the 21st century. The facts are current and the research she cites is indeed interesting. Unfortunately, you have to pay...
but it is still available at One More Soul.
