The analyst from IBISWorld clearly specified that the link was more to do with the added tourism created by a large occassion such as world youth day. It is the journalist that interviewd that analyst trying to 'spin' it to create controversy

The same thing was said about WYD 2005 in Germany.
They have a point in that the secular reporters assigned to cover WYD may go to such places. They could say something like, "Where can I get away from those happy, holy people? Oh I know! I won't find any of them in here!"
Perhaps there will be a tiny ancillary upswing in tourism based on world news media coverage from the visit... If that happens, it stands to reason that a certain percentage will be whoremongers...
Given the cost of flights to Austrailia and bus tickets alone (never minding that a Catholic who attends such an event is the most likely to have the strongest feelings of abhorrence...) I doubt a lot of teenagers have their heart set on sneaking away to pay for some sex-worker action. There is always a bad apple, I suppose.
to be clear in the point above, the upswing in tourism for Austrailia among the whoremonger set would be watching the nightly news, see the visit, and say "that place looks beautiful! After the pope leaves, we should travel there to sleep with women who are willing for cash!"
