Gravatar The electoral map?

You have to be very cautious about all of those "electoral map" polls out there.

The quality of the polls in the individual states vary widely.

Gravatar Brassband is correct to point out that the state polls are often much more methodologically suspect than the national polls.

However, the bigger issue is that the current electoral map counts -- for example, the one available on politico.com and other websites -- are based on polls of the swing states that were taken a long time ago. Some of those polls were taken even before the Palin pick was announced. And, all of them before the RNC, which is when McCain's bounce really began to ... well, um ... bounce.

Nonetheless, we are beginning to get some fresh polls out of the swing states. So far they show that McCain is leading by a seven point margin in Ohio, McCain is gaining on Obama in Michigan -- Obama has only a one point lead there, and Florida is still up for grabs.

Gravatar Thomas, what is your glitch??!!

"That's the latest"??!!

This from the very article to which you link: "Many of the state polls used to determine the Electoral College standings, however, were conducted before the conventions."

Thomas, BEFORE the conventions -- the conventions finished quite a while ago now (at least in politics time).

Gee. Sometimes you should read the articles to which you link people.

Pppfff.

Gravatar Thomas, I am a native Floridian...they are drinking the Obama Messiah Kool Aid.

Florida is going Red, again...can't talk about others, Ohio Mac is up, Missouri is going to Mac, too...

B. Hussein Obama, the Muslim interloper, is going down.

Gravatar I don't seem to recall Electoral College polls for '00 or '04. Not that they matter much to me - just seems to me that instead of reporting news, the MSM is once again creating news.

Nonetheless, there's still a lot of time left - and a lot can (and probably will) change once the debates occur. My prediction: McCain will hold his own against Obama much better than Dole did against Clinton; Biden will appear condescending against Palin (because he won't be able to stop himself). McCain wins in November with 55% of the popular vote.

Gravatar Gee. Sometimes you should read the articles to which you link people.

And let's add the advice that people should read the comments preceding as both of them addressed that point. And with less snarkitude I might add.

Gravatar Yep Anon, I read that. Are you aware of more recent information that was available? Exactly. There wasn't any. Thus, the information presented in the article was "the latest."

Got it? Okay good. Moving on...
