I like the general theme, but with all the thousands of photos available of Benedict, couldn't they have chosen another one ... that one, I beleive is from April 19 althought I may be wrong since I don't quite see the black sweater sleeves peeking out from the alb ... but it's that same heavy stole, the one that doesn't lay so well on his shoulders .. just an opinion.

I hope the "visit to 'the United States'" thing doesn't get overblown, as if, somehow, the Pope is paying homage to the US regime. The Holy Father has decided to visit New York and Washington. This signals a (necessary)"metapolitical" purpose on the part of the Holy See.

The cities and peoples who fall under the US regime are rather like the cities and peoples who fell under the Roman Empire: Visiting Rome is not the same thing as visiting Gaul.
