It just crossed my mind that this discussion will be the "line in the sand" dividing those who are Catholic in their own minds and those who are Catholic without apology. I hope it is-and I hope more people will side with Chaput that won't.

Yes, ATchbishop and his suxiliary ( a holy bishop on the same page here) have been the first to speak and so far, out of over 200 bishops, a little over a dozen have followed suit. But with the ice being broken, so to speak, the more faithful ones will finally and at long last begin to speak up in the public forum.
The not-so-faithful ones ( the majority?) will only speak up if the pressure is too great.
