Gravatar Um...wow.

Gravatar Seeing little people is more a kin to possible attacks from the devil. A story about St. Theresa the Little Flower comes to mind...she reportedly dreamt about two little demons who were playing and were scared off by her presence. This bore a striking similarity. I also don't understand why possession= psychotic. I am not saying it was the devil, but I don't theink the possiblity should be thrown out or scoffed at.

Gravatar How old is the bishop?

As far as what he reported to police, that story is pretty creepy.

Gravatar According to the news report, the Bishop is 62.

The website of the diocese has a number of press releases over the past month or so with regard to the Bishop's situation.

Hopefully the Bishop's situation is a temporary one that will respond to treatment.

Would curious behavior be something that might require some involvement by the Archbishop of Santa Fe?

Gravatar I'm just curious what "Ph/t" means. Is that your version of Jimmy Akin's Cowboy Hat Tip?

Gravatar I had a nice, lengthy chat with the bishop after an event a few years ago. One would be hard pressed to find a saner personal presence. He seemed bright, actually.

Gravatar How very scary for the people of this diocese and, of cource, the Bishop and his family. I live in Arizona, and can tell you the part of the world Bishop lives in can be pretty rough. I wouldn't count it as unlikely that he may have been assulted. But - he may have no memory of this assault and may very well feel that he did fall down the stairs. I know that people who have gone through very tramatic experiences will often block them out. It's not a lie if you don't know it is, right?

I sure hope he can get past this problem, whatever it may be. When the Bishop of Phoenix was forced to resign after some "legal trouble" the Archbishop of Sante Fe took over until a new Bishop (who by the way is an excellent one) could be appointed. Perhaps this might be necessary, at least for a while, until Bishop P can get all this stuff sorted out.

Gravatar h/t is normally abbrev. for "hat-tip", so Ph/t = "Papist hat-tip".

Gravatar Anon, I for one don't scoff at the demonic possibility, but they are SOOOO remote at this point, on this evidence, as to not be worth mentioning.

Gravatar For some reason I keep thinking of ETs, of Little Green (or Gray) Men examining the poor Bishop. Who can say?

Gravatar I don’t normally respond to news stories but the story about Bishop Pelotte sounds exactly like my father’s illness. He suffered from Lewy-Body Dementia or Parksinson’s Dementia. My father was misdiagnosed for many months. My father's sister is now beginning to see people in her house. My father was brilliant and his condition varied from minute to minute or day to day. He had vivid dreams and they were as real to him as life. He also made a police report about cult members (3 feet tall) in his house. These patients only have visual hallucinations and only see people or animals. My dear father passed away in March. I miss our talks so much, even if they were not my reality. My father also suffered from falls and blood pressure fluctuations as in Shy-Drager. It is hard to see a story like this, it could have easily have been about my father and these patients are aware that things are not right. There is no cure and most medication tends to make it worse. It is a cruel disease that worsens with time. My father suffered from RBD for 15 years before he started seeing things.

Gravatar Should a papist really use the phrase "hat-tip"?

Shouldn't it be Tiara-tip, or, perhaps more in keeping with Pope Benedict's coat of arms, Mitre-tip?

Gravatar Or Biretta tip.

Gravatar I like the fact that "ph/t", in internet speak, could also be taken to mean "super-cool." :) But I'll take the suggestions under advisement.

Gravatar We haven't really had an active Bishop here in the Diocese of Gallup for a very long time. Vocations seems to have pretty much dried up. I am sorry about the Bishop's condition, but I hope and pray that Rome gets a new and a good Bishop here fast.

As for the Archbishop of Santa Fe, he has pretty much compromised on homosexual issues in New Mexico politics. He is not that great, and he has not been that generous in the past as regards the indult for the Latin Mass, but he is probably better than Bishop Pelotte. Oremus.

Gravatar Pray for the persecutors and surrender the bishop to the Lord. Didn't the Lord suffer ridicule and hate, why not one of his current apostles.
Pray and pray some more, don't join the jeering and sneering crowd as on Good Friday.
