Gravatar it makes me so heartsick....

Gravatar Crackers.....

Reminds me a of a Chick Tract.

Desecrating thew Precious Body of Our Lord will surely weigh against them.

Gravatar What is his point? How could he disrespect so casually what we hold so sacred? To think he is an educator of young people... these are difficult times.

Gravatar Padre, I suspect he's thinking "If I disrespect it, and lightening doesn't strike me down, people will see it's all a fraud." You know, like Jim Jones throwing the Bible across the room to prove he's as strong as God.

Gravatar Good reason for Communion on the tongue. Tom

Gravatar TJM -

People can still take it off their tongue. People have been desecrating the Eucharist since well before people started receiving in the hand.

Steph

Gravatar Yes, but it is harder.
I think a lawyer ought to go after him, too.
But most of all, where are the priests, bishops and lay people willing to defend our Lord by properly and reverently giving and reciving Communion? Where are the clergy and laypeople to teach proper respect and to actually do it themselves instead of acting like they are at McDonald's?

Gravatar We're (those living in America) are in deep $%@!. There are public acts of desecration of the Eucharist taking place everywhere. I wonder what ills we will be facing soon.

Gravatar That was the start of the whole thing - this professor is basically doing this in protest of a young man in Florida who "wanted to show the host to his friend", so he didn't consume it, and the EM chased after him and apparently tried to physically remove it from his hand. The kid got upset by her, and was basically crying assault. So this professor guy, in protest for the treatment of this young man over "a cracker", promised to publicly desecrate the Eucharist.

So the EM did try to defend Our Lord - and rightfully so - and I wish more people did the same thing in that situation.

I guess all I can hope for the guy is that having Our Lord present at his home brings him some sort of grace.

Gravatar If i lived anywher enear him i would be storming his office right now, and removing them from his posession.

Gravatar If I could humbly beseech our dear Lord, I think it's time for another Eucharistic miracle a la 'Lanciano'. Nothing like the supernatural power of God to convert anyone.

Gravatar A comment on PZ's blog lists the following as the response of the U of M president to Donohue:

Gravatar As an alumni of the University of Minnesota-Morris, I'll have to keep this incident in mind every time they call asking for my financial support of the institution.

Gravatar The missing Eucharist in Corpus Christi involved the theft of the monstrance with the host in it from the Adoration Chapel at Corpus Christi Cathedral. I would encourage acts of reparation on all our part and prayers of conversion for the culprit. I don't think it was meant as sacrilege as much as stealing the monstrance which could generate some cash in a pawn shop. Nonetheless it is distrubing, I the name "Corpus Christi" really rattles the cages of hell.
