Of course, you do realize that all mention of forgiveness in this article originates in the fertile imaginations of the Reuters news organisation, right?
I haven't seen the original L'Osservatore article, but none of the excerpts therefrom even hints at the topic of forgiveness. Similar to its behavior in reporting the recent story of the "new deadly sins", the MSM seems again to be indulging in hyperbole at the Church's expense.

Should we imagine that "Imagine" was never written?

Don't Forget-
1. Forgiveness of the historians who claim that Pope Pius XII stopped short of wearing a swastika armband on his vestments;
2. Forgiveness of the now-aging dissidents who put up such a fuss after Humanae Vitae;
3. Forgiveness of Yoko Ono for the self-illusion that she's a musician.

In a way I think it's a gracious thing of the Church to do. Forty years ago, Lennon was speaking about the immanent demise of Christianity and yet here we are.
What would be cool would be, during the month of November, a nice big, solemn Requiem Mass in St. Peter's offered for the deceased Detractors of Church: Nietzsche, Lennon, Lenin, Stalin, Madeline Murray O'Hare.
Invitations to the Mass could be sent to people like Dawkins, Madonna, Sinead O'Connor, Bill Maher.
Sort of a reminder - yeah, we've outlived the majority of our critics, and we'll outlive you to - and pray for you when you're gone.

The Vatican does not "forgive" Lennon for anything because there isn't anything to forgive. All this is is a piece about the Vatican view toward what Lennon said 40 years ago. Of course, the MSM can't really seem to report anything accurately. If you read the article there isn't anything by a Vatican spokesman that says "Lennon is forgiven" or anything even close.

Why did the Today Show on BBC just run a 10 minute segment: "Women Priests - Breaking Barriers in the Catholic Church"
Considering that many people nationwide are tuning in to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, I guess they figured it was the perfect time to sneak in some heretical propaganda.
They featured Roy Boujelais, too.

The reporter's ignorance and bias left me disgusted.
