He's a remarkable man in many respects, not the least of which is, he's a canon lawyer (JCD) with extensive Roman experience.

It is not every day... what a pity. However, it is not as uncommon as the C.C.D. thinks. (i.e. Bishop Robert Morlino led a Corpus Christi procession through the streets of downtown Madison in June 2007 - the Blessed Sacrament being beautifully displayed on the steps of the state capitol).

"Not every day .. " Well, I don't know .. our Bishops always lead the Pro-Life March in our Diocese. So, I guess it may be more common than one thinks ... unless you don't consider Honolulu a "major" city.

From factfinder.census.gov
Population San Diego 2006 est. 1,261,251
Population Honolulu CDP 2006 est. 364,522
Population Madison, WI 2006 est. 214,098
And if you want to include metropolitan areas, well, San Diego will still beat the other two.
San Diego is the 8th largest city in the country (from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis..._by_population)
Honolulu is 46th, Madison is 82nd
