Hey APapist,

that was a very Reuters-like and unserious headline unfitting the content of you.
People could actually believe the headline to be true, you know.
Fellay HAS NOT rejected the invitation to discussion with a more civil tone. Yet.

Florestan,

Could you point us to a source? Thanks.

DavidB,

source? Well, the point is that there isn't any proper source yet, but there will be soon. My guess personal guess is that Bp. Fellay will develop the official reply of the Society in this Sunday's sermon (or possibly even earlier). However, the deadline for a response was set to the 28th if I'm not mistaken.

Let's see if I've got it:
While Thomas correctly qouted Bp. Fellay's remarks, Bp. Fellay didn't reject the discussion.

Even if that's the case, I have to say that his rude comments don't leave much to the imagination, as far as his 'official' response goes.

It seems so far that my guess was somewhat incorrect, the spokesperson Fr. Lorans just acknowledged that Bp. Fellay sent a written response to the Holy See but do not intend to make it public at this point. Good choice, the storm on the internet about important things could make anyone seasick.

I've spent years with the SSPX and still have some friends there, so I know from first hand experience that the Society has internal rhetorics of its own, not necessarily connected to the outside world. Keep in mind that a great number of their faithful and priests don't have much fair information on what the state of things really is during Benedict XVI's pontificate. Hard to believe in the electronic age? That is nevertheless pretty much the truth. Oremus.
