President Bush at the White House again?
Is our stupid President looking for the pope to lecture him again about all his anti-life policies? You'd think by now that our President would have become genuinely pro-life by reversing his positions on the death penalty, abortion in cases of incest, torture, unjust wars, and health insurance for the poor.
I guess he's the same as he's always been. Slow, thick-headed, and stupid. AKA Evangelical.
I don't see him becoming Catholic anytime soon.

Rachel,
Do you slur various races and ethnicities too, or do you limit your slurs to religions you don't agree with?

Rachel, I assume you must have gone to Harvard and Yale like the President such that feel free to criticize a fellow member of the club. Generally I find people who denigrate another's intellectual capacity are engaging in a bit of "projection." Also your positions on "life issues" are non consistent with the Holy Roman Catholic Church's per the Universal Catechism. Abortion is an intrinsic evil, and is never justified, so President Bush is far more Catholic than you are. Moreover, you must be more "Catholic" than the Church because the death penalty and war are not instrinsically evil, like abortion, and are justifiable in appropriate circumstances. Bush also is against stem cell research using aborted children's tissues (sorry I refuse to use the Democratic Party's preferred term of "foetus", a de-humanizing term wouldn't you agree?) So once again, Bush's position is consistent with the Catholic Church's and is his position on "gay marriage."
So I think President Bush may indeed be our first "Catholic President" in contrast with ersatz Catholic John Kennedy. Last time I checked health insurance is not a "life issue" except maybe in lefty-world.
By the way, there is health insurance for the poor. It's called Medicaid and it's been around since 1965. Moreover, there isn't a hospital around that would refuse treatment to the poor because of their inability to play. So please come out of your fantasyland into the world of reality and truth. Tom

Thomas,
In the past few days there has been a glitch in some of the postings. It says here that there are three comments but, when you go to read them, there is nothing there. Wanted to let you know!

Rachel,
You're failing in your attempts at humor.
Just a respectful opinion.

If Bush only knew how fortunate he is to be able to just meet the Pope at his disposal like that. What Catholic would not want this freedom? At this rate, out of courtesy, he should become Catholic! Just gotta love Dubya.

Well, Michelle, his brother did convert. Who knows? But he's much more Catholic than alleged Catholics like Rachel. Tom

That is right Thomas, I completely forgot his brother was Catholic. And you mean to tell me Dubya did not take his brother along?!?! IF my brother was the president , and IF he went to visit the Pope and did NOT take me with him, boy, I would be a tad upset ... LOL - On a side not: this is going on down south, in case you and your fellow bloggers are interested: http://celebration.sqpn.com/ Catholic Media Celebration on June 22 in Atlanta.
Peace, Michelle

Catholics don't have to be 100% against the Death Penalty, against all war, and for nationalized health care.
Compared to certain politicians... I would say George Bush is quite inline with Catholic teaching, and at least he tries to do what is right and instead of outright disobeying the Pope sees him as a spiritual father.

How beautiful it is to have our president honor the Holy Father with five visits. His heart is obviously moved by the time they've shared. I will continue to pray that their meetings are fruitful. (And if President Bush decides to enter into communion with the Catholic church....well, that's just cool!)

Yes, Hooray for President Bush! What a blessing for him! I like him. He talks like a normal person and doesn't put on airs like the Democrats do. He has certainly been much more pro-life than ALL recent Presidents, especially with his court appointees.
Due to learning disabilities of many in my family, I recently read a book on dyslexia. Lo and behold, if Pres. Bush doesn't have all the classic symptoms of dyslexia! The press should be ashamed for maligning him for the way he talks and the speech mistakes he makes!! I live with guys who have the same problems. They can't help it. Their word retrieval system uses a 'slow' part of the brain.

I would like to have a beer with the guy yet happen to think he's done next to nothing to better the country, but unless President Bush is going to admit to having dyslexia--it's not an impeachable offense--or some other learning disorder, it should be open season on him. Personally, I find "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches" on Letterman to be utterly hysterical. I don't know what talking like a "normal person" means, but surely, we need leaders who can properly communicate to us and the rest of the world. It's usually not a good thing when so many think we've got a bozo in the Oval Office. Again, I think he's a good guy and would like to have a conversation with him, but McCain or Obama will be a huge upgrade.

I believe I'm correct in saying that Jeb Bush has visited with the Pope -- in Rome, IIRC.

Nathan, Obama would not be an upgrade. He's Abortion King and you should see some of his bloopers, for starters did you know there are 57 States? Obama said so. Tom
