Thomas.... doom and gloom Tuesday; wow, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, you come up with another one! Thanks for getting the word out and let us know the beast we are dealing with.
Prayer is our hope and our answer of course.

the first step is knowing what is happening.
Uhh, you're torturing Pollyanna? ;-)
No, really, thanks for splashing us with cold reality and keeping us informed.

A blog post in response to your post on the Oakland Cathedral
The slurs against Whispers and especially AmP are disheartening and scandalous. I have commented over there, but my comment hasn't yet appeared.

There are pictures of the interior which frankly are not much better than the corporate-office looking exterior. Our Lord looks like a hologram about to say: "We have a new enemy--Luke Skywalker. He could destroy us."

Looks like my comments may not be going up over there. FWIW, here's what I wrote:
"I invite you to consider the extent to which your defense of the cathedral and critique of its critics, however warranted it may be in itself, is undermined by gratuitous and unwarranted personal attacks on other Catholic bloggers.
"It is one thing to disagree with and criticize one another. To accuse others of 'making gossip their hobby' and even of having "little respect for the teaching office of the church" is leveling very serious charges, and if false offend deeply against both justice and charity.
"I have no hesitation in labeling the charges false. In no sense can it be maintained that AmP lacks 'respect for the teaching office of the church.' Disagree with him ever so vehemently about architecture if you like, but you owe your brothers in Christ better than this."

Not to continue to hijack this thread, but...
I agree with Scott W. After seeing more of the inside of the Cathedral I just can't see the point. The Cathedra is a vaguely chair-shaped black rock built into a concrete park bench. The ceiling? Well... You've all seen EPCOT right?
Anyway, for all its grandious "makes use of light!" horseradish, most of the light is actually blocked by the giant, fixed window blinds. I still say if you want an awesome use of light, go to St. Chapelle in Paris and work off that as a model.

Once again, SDG, your comments are as reasonable and charitable as they come. :)
