This is deeply frustrating, I had the article before me in Italian just this morning, but the Vatican has already replaced it with the March 10-11 edition and I cannot seem to find a way back to the March 9 interview. =(

I had a hearty laugh at this article this morning!

http://green.yahoo.com/news/nm/ 2...pe_sins_dc.html

Highlights:

For starters the headline: Vatican lists "new sins," - Yes, because there is some man in the basement of the Vatican who is in charge of coming up with three new sins every year. He works on commission.

"The guidance came at the weekend when Archbishop Gianfranco Girotti, the Vatican's number two man in the sometimes murky area of sins and penance, spoke of modern evils"
So apparently, there is a department for sins. Funny I don't seem to recall hearing of this Pontifical Council before. Oh, and how sweet would it be if you were the "number two guy on sins and penance". How do I get that job? (In reality, Girotti is a Franciscan who is an official in the Apostolic Penitentiary).

The funniest part about this piece is that it was on the front page of Yahoo this morning. Glad to see this is the coverage the Church is getting.

On a more serious note, "adding" sins against the environment is an interesting step, of course this did not seem to come directly from the Pope, so its far from official (whatever that would mean). I wouldn't consider it "official" until its put into the Catechism.

Gravatar This reminds me of what Amy Wellborn wrote a couple of days ago.

Do you remember Rule #27?

In case you forgot, here it is:

If the news story is from the British press and involves the Pope….

DON’T BELIEVE IT.
