There was a time- even with the previous presidential election cycle- when someone like Cafardi could go about his business with no repercussions. That time is over. AmP, CAEI, WDTPRS, the oodles of other Catholic blogs are essential reasons why. We read, we respond- in very close to real time, faster than chanceries, university leaderships, the USCCB, other ecclesial bureaucracies normally operate. So much fun. Maybe not for Cafardi, but for us.

Gerard:
CAEI?
Which one is that? It's not on my blog-reading list!

it's simple: if you are in a state that is voting for a senator, vote for obama for president and vote for the pro-life senate candidate. it's the senate that has to vote on the judges and justices anyway, so that's where we should be focusing our attention.

If you want good judges, that is absolutely the WORST piece of advice I can think of. It's the President who makes the choice in the first place of who should be a judge!

Thales is right. Richard's comment makes no sense whatsoever.

Ditto what Thales said.
Even if we have enough Senators to fight his nominees, it will mean a stalemate at best. Obama will never appoint judges who are strict constructionists.
