Given your analysis of the Demoncrat's abortion plank, I'd like to know what Kmiec's Catholic case for Obama could possibly be.

The phrase "Catholic case for Obama" makes me ill. Like, the Catholic case for the French Revolution, or the Catholic case for Chinese communism, or the Catholic case for sacrilege. It doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately, I couldn't tune in.

Never mind, I found it.

Kmiec thinks it's Obama that's the unifier and McCain the divider. Really. Sure, Obama would be the unifier if we all stopped whining and unified under him. And why aren't we? Because McCain is an alternative. McCain's candidacy is divisive, because it's an alternative to Obama--who'd get all the votes if there were no one else.

Sorry, Prof. Kmiec, but you sound really goofy to me. Oh, and divisive, too.

Go check out Fr. Z's post, "Let's pretend it's 1942."

Gravatar So, how was it? I missed it.

Gravatar It is archieved. I am listening now :)

Gravatar Good piece on Kmiec at First Things yesterday.

Gravatar This deserves a longer forum. They really didn't get to go at it very much.

Kmiec: Supreme Court Justices have not given us the goods on RvW for 35 yrs. Sending it to the states is not going to help. Obama's fighting poverty and economic injustices will reduce abortions. I believe Obama wants to reduce the numbers.

Hudson: We shouldn't talk about mortal sin as a leverage for a candidate. The facts should stand on their own and let reason win. McCain will do better than Obama.

Kresta: Obama has a record of pro-abortion history. He promised to sign the freedom for choice act.

There were too many loose ends left untied in 15-20 minutes. This needs at least a 90 minute back and forth covering a few of many topics this brought up.

Kmiec is not off his rocker as many people want to say he is. To be sure, he has a difficult argument to make, but one not to be easily dismissed.

Tom, Keep up the good work. ~Bill

Gravatar Bill: Right, they needed more time. So do we. But, (1) there's noting wrong with sending abortion to the states; that is where most felonies, including murder, are legislated and enforced; we could also isolate the abortion cancer better. And (2) if Kmiec is not off his rocker, he's in deep trouble.

Gravatar Dr. Peters,
In what way is he in deep trouble?
I understood him to be advocating different ways of fighting abortion that are not the supreme court method.
I think it is a major risk supporting Obama, but trouble?
Bill
