I didn't think the Curt Jester comments were funny. I thought it was mean. If we're going to mock SSPX folks on one hand don't we look a little fake in claiming to hope they come back to the church?

See, SSPX personal ads are the type of satire the Curt Jester would normally come up with...so I think he was adding to the satire by sarcastically saying that someone would run an ad in the local paper saying SSPXWF. Maybe he was even pointing out the humor in the idea of a personal ad being so incredibly specific. It was all done as satire anyhow, expect this SSPX Singles thing ought to be satire when in fact it's real...

I don't think Curt Jester's humor is mean-spirited. People who draw smaller and smaller circles around themselves in an effort to maintain purity look a little silly, and it can be salutary to realize that.

LOL, SSPX - what a joke. Unless they accept the Second Vatican Council, they are not welcome back into the Church. Go ask the Pope, he'll say the same thing.

I would agree, the target of the humor was somewhat muddled, but I still think American Papist is a great blog :-)

SSPX is a priestly fraternity. They'll be "single" forever.
