Everything Hill or Bill does is staged. Absolutely everything.

Big deal. All of Bush's campaign events were well-orchestrated, scripted events. Bush's press-conferences, the few he really has, are also a bit scripted. At least Clinton speaks in complete English sentences. Bush can't speak English at all. Illegal immigrants in this country speak better English than Bush.
Besides, in the end this is all campaigning. Every campaigner, no matter how much you like their pro-life stance, is treating every second of the campaign like one big commerical to draw votes.

matt, besides making fun of Bush's unfortunate inability to ennunciate at times, I take it you think "campaigning" is an excuse to permit every sort of dirty ploy? Isn't dishonesty plain bad form, even in a "big commercial?"

I am quite disillusioned concerning election campaigns. There is a reason that well-orchestrated, showlike campaigns are labeled "American Style" in Germany... (no offense intended)

Victor, you're absolutely right. The process is now all about glamor rather than substance. Debates that don't reveal anything because you only get 90 seconds to talk, and whether it's a Democratic or Republican candidate, all campaign events are orchestrated. The sad thing is that Americans like it that way. Our attention spans are short and we like it when we don't have to think very much. Thankfully, I'm still a student and have the time to read in-depth and find out what candidates stand for, but for those who have jobs and families and bills, they don't have that luxury. And I think that the political process suffers as politicians take advantage of voters who don't have time to flesh out the issues.
