Gravatar So for your plan to work nobody in the entire church should react to something like this? How likely is that? Donahue does not get much attention from non-Catholics. It is good for people like him to point these things out.

If we are smart it might allow us to use Britney's name to lure some teens into reading something about confession. Turnabout is fair play.

Gravatar I think expressing outrage gives too much justice to Ms. Spears. It's better to take McCaffrey's moderate approach, in my opinion.

Gravatar Sigh, if only she would go to Confession. Poor woman.

Gravatar Britney, I know, is in charge of her own life and makes her own decisions - but am I the only one who thinks she seems so vulnerable and just...lost? Unlike Madonna, she is not so calculating or clever - she is not maliciously trying to strike out at the Catholic church - she wasn't raised Catholic. I seriously think she needs prayers. We need to remember that the people who do the most damage to our culture are also putting their own souls in grave danger, and cannot be forgotten by us in our prayers.

Gravatar As much as I like Donahue's courage and charisma, he sticks his foot in his mouth far too often - he's a bit of a liability in the Catholic media world.

Sometimes I wonder if he just likes hearing himself speak.

That said, his bluntness is refreshing every now and then.

Gravatar I wonder if he would be quoted as often by the media if he limited his vitriol and spent more time explaining why anti-Catholic actions are offensive.... hmm.

Gravatar I'm with MikeA. Mostly. BD does not get paid (very handsomely) for being brave and charismatic (?), but for expressing Catholic views in a Catholic way in the public forum. Far, far too often, I think, he blows it.
