If poor Little Rock is left out again...23 months without a bishop is unreal. Roc said they had the new bishop figured out a while back ago, but no announcement. I wonder what happened. Egan is safe through the trip, but I would imagine his time is limited, as well.

Rocco is reporting that Little Rock, Des Moines will get new bishops and Denver, San Francisco, and San Antonio will recieve auxilliaries. We will see if that turns out the case.

My question is when will Abp. Wuerl be made a Cardinal? Why the delay?

Nathan - look like little rock will be seen to (finally).
JDA - thanks.
A. S - It's unlikely that Wuerl would be made a cardinal with another cardinal hanging his hat in DC (mccarrick), not counting other DC cardinals (baum & hickey).

Wow, how sad that a diocese would have to go without a Bishop! We are so blessed in Savannah with an awesome Irish Bishop indeed.

Houston has been blessed again, it's been an incredible six months down here! Fr. Cantu is a very good man, I have met him on two occasions. He has studied in Rome and teaches part-time at the local seminary. My first encounter with him was at a Discernment retreat at which he gave a very good talk on life as a pastor. Everyone here in Houston seemed to realize he was headed for the episcopacy, we just didn't think it would happen this soon!

My brother thinks the world of Msgr. Conley, now, of course, Bishop Conley. Very nice man and extremely intelligent. People in Wichita were wondering when he'd be appointed to the episcopacy, and my thought last night was that he might be heading to Des Moines. Denver, I'm sure, is totally acceptable for him. Kansans are dominating Northern Colorado! Although there could be some friction between Chaput and Conley, as the boss prefers Kansas State while the new bishop is a huge Kansas fan (he even attended the Orange Bowl this past January). Given Monday night and today, I would say Bishop Conley is having a pretty good week.
While I'm sure the people of Blessed Sacrament and his fellow priests are sad to see him go, I was telling my brother that this kind of helps Bishop Jackels out. Wichita has two key problems right now--too many priests and not enough parishes, particularly large ones that can financially support multiple priests, and how to pay for 40 current seminarians, a number that's expected to increase to 50 next fall. With Conley's departure, that opens up a slot for a priest to stay home rather than get sent to another diocese within the state struggling with a priest shortage, although we welcome helping out our neighbor sees. Being blessed is becoming a bit of nuisance, although one I'm sure Bishop Jackels gladly welcomes. Interesting times in Wichita, I must say.

Yes, Conley is a humane, clearheaded, and faithful priest. He played a major role in my return to the faith after a decade or so of apostasy. The people of Colorado are truly blessed.
Thank the Lord for good shepherds!

Having just been confirmed by Msgr. Conley this past Easter, I know that he is a wonderful priest and that Denver is incredibly blessed to have him. At the same time, it is hard not to shed some tears for his loss from our parish. My fiance and I were just discussing that it wouldn't be long before he would be appointed bishop somewhere, but we were hoping it wouldn't be until next year!

Msgr. Conley was set to be the celebrant of my wedding Mass (TLM, of course). He is an excellent priest and will be a great Bishop.

Anybody know anything about Fr. Anthony Taylor, the new bishop-elect of Little Rock?

Palmo seems to get his information because of his connection with some limp wristed clerics who have loose lips.
Meanwhile, just reading his column makes it obvious he is no friend of Tradition.

That was an odd little diatribe, both against Rocco and his sources. I guess it might be different for other parts of the country, but in the Midwest, "limp wristed" is a derogatory term for homosexuals. I certainly would hope that's not what was meant in reference to the good men who serve our Church. As for Rocco, just like AmP, he's very good at what he does. Why the beef?
