Good points. Though I think that claiming either as 'Catholic' is a little stretch. Indeed, per the movies (Batman Begins and Iron man,) I think Nolan's hero is perhaps slightly more 'Catholic' in some ways: choosing a 'celebate' life away from his love and society, willing to risk his life even for his enemies, and seeing his actions as an extremely serious last resort and finite in purpose. Batman knows he can only do so much for good, before others must choose Good for themselves.

That's not to say that the blogger's point's are incorrect or not of excellent argument. Jon Favreau's Iron Man, and Christopher Nolan's Batman are worthy of our admiration and enjoyment!

Catholic Batman? I think the statement is a little bit of an insult to Ironman and to Marvel who has given us so many catholic superheroes. Not just ironman and spiderman, what about Kurt Wagner? The first Xmen movie did an amazing job of showing his german Catholic roots.

Where did anyone say Batman was Catholic? I certainly didn't.

I said, for reasons already given, that Bruce Wayne seemed slightly more "Catholic." Notice the quotation marks.

I also said neither could be claimed as Catholic. It can be claimed that Catholic moral thought is embedded in their stories.

Iron Man appears not to have any particular religious affiliation.

Yes, Batman from the comics is a lapsed Catholic, but Nolan's Batman appears to have no more than a passing acquaintance with Christianity. That's why I said zhat I said. :-)
