What's your topic specifically, Thomas? And how's your French? :-)

Good luck with the thesis. I'm in year four of my dissertation work, and hopefully wrapping up the final drafting, so I sympathize.

They only give you three months and expect a student to write a half-way decent masters thesis? Perhaps Sacred Heart should consider revising their curriculum requiring the submission and approval of a topic at least six months (roughly one semester) before graduation. That way, MA students are turning in something of quality rather than turning in something that merely meets a requirement. For my second MA, I have to have approval on a thesis topic one year prior to graduation so that my supervisors know that I have had time to immerse myself in both the primary and the secondary sources. Even for my BA senior thesis, I had to be approved six months before graduation (that's for a 30 pager). I don't mean to rant, but what's the point of requiring an MA thesis if students will not have enough time to write something that is scholarly and is a potential candidate for conference presentation or publication?
But despite these problems at Sacred Heart, I hope you turn something out that's quite good.

At Sacred Heart you normally have to have your sentence approved at least four months in advance. Circumstances were slightly different in my case for a variety of reasons. I believe that Sacred Heart has a sufficient level of quality control set in place for its MA theses. Either way, I do hope to turn out something quite good in the time allotted.
And Chris, my reading ability in french is not excellent, but good enough for the task at hand. :)

I just read some Pinckaers for my Moral Theology class. It was excellent.
Good luck with everything.

I'll be praying for you as you dedicate your time to this worthwhile effort by invoking the intercession of St. Thomas Aquinas as well as that of Fr. Marie - Dominque Philippe - another Dominican - who taught philosophy at the the University of Fribourg from 1945 to 1982. He is the founder of the Community of St. John and passed away less than a year ago at age 93.
He has a few years to wait before the canonization process begins, but I am sure he will be a powerful intercessor along with PPJII and St. TA.
I enjoy your blog a great deal. Keep up the good work or should I say intellectual play.
God bless you,
Jean :-)

Re: extra time
A lot of extra time just means extra time to procrastinate. This way, every moment is clearly important, and it's much easier to create and follow a research and writing plan.
Assuming you don't have to order too much stuff from faraway libraries or do too much research travel, that is.

Just browsing your site. I hang around at JA's site.
Have you considered reading the late Fr. Antonio Marin's books on moral theology. They exist in spanish, don't know if in english, but they are really good.
Blessings
