It's a fight between Catholics and fake Catholics. Of course, the New York Slimes wouldn't know the difference. Tom

At least it's likely they're not using Playboy money. Hef had been a big donor to Catholics for Free Choice. But times are tough, bunnies are being laid off, and his three longtime girlfriends are finding slightly younger- as in pre-Medicare- beaus. Times are tough all over.

You know I agree with your opinion of those groups. But I wonder if you would feel the same why if you found out that Catholic political groups in favor of voting for McCain were receiving funding from non-Catholic Republican donors who oppose Catholic teaching on some key issues?
My guess is that this type of strategic funding goes on on both sides. (Apparently, we have no evidence either way, or do we?)

I'd be impressed with the "hey everyone tries to co-opt the Church" argument if the Left side groups actually accomplished ANYTHING positive for all the other areas they claim balances out their moral position on abortion.
But after 40 years of claiming to help the poor...there are still a prepondance of poor people in Left wing cities, counties and states.
After 40 years of their near monopoly on education, it's STILL a mess compared with private (and under-funded) schools.
Health care? How the heck did we survive as a nation up till now without government run health care? How did we become the leader in the world for health care without nationalisation? The rise is cost for health is DIRECTLY related to left-wing meddling.
So on, down the line. They do a horrible job taking care of those areas they claim to be 'for' apart from the life issues, so I'm not impressed with their claims of moral superiority or that it's OK to vote Left wing because of all the other supposed benefits.
