Caption: Back to the Future!
Yes!
Actually, with what I see in newer seminarians and young religious makes me hopeful that if we look forward 25 years, rectories will be full. And, nuns in habit who are not disoriented in their doctrine or theology will be back in the classrooms teaching. They will also be back in parishes without any shame whatsoever, handling ordinary tasks along with CCD and other such things. These nuns will not be teaching "My butterfly and me" style catechism. Rather, the kids will be eating a diet of sound catechesis.
Will we find that McBrien brand theology has been completely rendered to the Smithsonian, and the priest "shortage" contrived by gate-keeping and doctrinally challenged nuns will no longer be in effect.
In fact, where courageous orthodoxy could get a young priest assigned to the outskirts of a diocese, nursing home, or some other place where his upright ways are "limited" in effect, those places will be the homes of the folks still clinging to hippy-era, distorted theology.
Faith and Hope: They're virtues!

That brings back memories! Except that the nuns at St. Mary's School in Alexandria, VA,and at Villa Duchesne in St. Louis, MO, wore habits that covered their hair!

"If we were married, is this when one of our wives would tell us to stop and ask for directions?"
Seriously, I always thought cassocks looked cool. It's one of the reasons I wanted a vocation to the priesthood. Alas, God had other plans, and now I am happily married to a wonderful woman.

Agh - you beat me to the matrix comment.
I was thinking along the lines of: "I'm Neo"
"No - I'M Neo!"
"NO - I'M NEO!"
The one second to the left actually looks like he's got some Agent Smith in him.

I hope they have those little lead balls in their hems. Otherwise I keep thinking of Scotsmen, and thier kilts, and a very high wind...
The things one misses by being a Protestant! A simple black robe just is not the same.

Question: How many Priests does it take to change a tire?
Answer: 4
1 to forgive the sins of the old tire
1 to bless the new one
1 to actually put on the new tire
1 Fr. General to tell the other three how to do all of that
*GW - you could always convert to us Byzantine Catholics! - then you can wear your cassock everyday (plus a massive golden crucifix) and you would have to deal with your wife telling you to stop and ask directions and the angry flock when you finally get there (jk!).

Julie,
Black Zuchettos are not common. I do not know the rules now, but in the past their use was restricted to certain members of the clergy (canons, I believe, for instance)

"No, Guido, those shades don't make you look like that cool picture of the Pope when he was younger. No, Matt, that zucchetto doesn't look anything like his beret. And as for you, Denny, I'm not giving you your zucchetto back until I have your word that you'll stop putting a propellor on top."

*NorthoftheBorder,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'd still need a Vocation from The Man. Liked your joke, BTW.
