I agree. Sounds like his Polish compatriots are impatient with that fast track to sainthood. Every nutty occurence like this makes it harder for those Catholics involved in evangelization. It's just one more non dignified (as to context) apparition that they have to explain as they are trying to keep focus on the essentials.

This is definitely akin to the Toasted Virgin.
Actually, it could also be the head and bust of Marie Antoinette, in profile, looking to the right. The "head and raised arm" of John Paul could also match M-A's tall hairdo. Look at it a couple minutes and you'll see what I mean.
Is it just coincidence that the picture was snapped at that very moment? The picture looks a tad photoshopped, if you ask me.

I agree with Bill Bannon. It seems that regular weird news surrounding John Paul's cause (this, the "relic sale" non-story, etc.) is doing more harm to his postulators work than good.
