Drat! Only three showings? I'm still on retreat that weekend... I'll have to try and squeak by with the Sunday 4pm showing.

I am happy to see it will be showing in Dallas. The last movie I saw was in 1998, and this one looks far more edifying than October Sky was.

I showed it to a class I taught on monasticism in January; had my college library order it from the Amazon Germany site. It had to be shown on European format DVD player. I will definitely get it on DVD for home viewing when it becomes available in U.S. format. Subtitles were few, and most were passages from Scripture. Since they are Carthusians, you don't really need subtitles since they are silent most of the time. One brief interview with one of the monks where he basically just talked about how God is everything to him. A wonderful, beautiful film. Hard to make out at times though, since no artificial lighting was allowed in the filming, and they seem to use very little electrical lighting at the G.Chartreuse. Those Carthusians are such a blessing to us all.
