Call me ignorant, but what's wrong with a racetrack? I know the problem over gambling, but is it wrong to simply use the facility for such a grand purpose?
The people who regularly use the racetrack object (for good reason) to its being used for WYD (because of the crowds, the need for some construction, security, etc that will prevent them from training their horses at the racetrack). There's no problem from a Catholic perspective.
A crowd of 500,000 is expected in a fairly isolated country of only 21 million people! Praise God.
No, its not the final word...
There is a horse flu outbreak in OZ and thus randwick has lost more money in the last month.
I don't think it is final word yet as the trainers etc are still protesting.
