I have always been amazed at the ability of couples to resolve conflict and be good friends once the divorce is final. Some even brag that they are closer and better friends after the divorce than they were before it. Voila! Its like magic or something and couldn't have anything to do with a chafing at committment or anything. No, we never delude ourselves when it comes to our personal lives, do we?
Anyway, there must be some evil mojo in that piece of paper that prevents people from reconciling while it is valid.

I worked with a man, several years ago, who had an interesting approach.
He had married a woman some years his senior and, at some point in their marriage, they decided to separate.
However, he took his vows (secularized agnostic though he was) seriously enough that, instead of running to Divorce Court he did the following:
He moved out onto the couch. That was it. They continued to share a dwelling and operate several businesses.
He still supported her, etc.
When we worked together, he was shopping for a house for her so that he could (after several years of this) get his bedroom back.
It was a fascinating relationship to observe.

No wonder they're divorced. A real husband would give his wife the master bedroom and not only let her park in the garage but make sure she's driving the better car.
Hopefully they can learn a lot from this situation and save their marriage.

So, being divorced they learned to share responsibilities, communicate and compromise?
Maybe we should require all divorcing couples to live together after the divorce, seems to work wonders.

Hmmm... If only there was a way to have couples divorce as part of marriage preparation.

Hmm...if there were only some way that people wouldn't put their personal lives on display so we can all gawk and murmur like it's some kind of zoo.
