Whose ashes are in that urn?!

Gravatar "Lovely, danke." (How do I tell him I already have one?)

Gravatar Easy, don't push it over!

Gravatar HA! Good one.

Actually, ever think about all the doodads Papa must get? There are lovely things like this, that can become part of the Vatican's legacy to the world; but man, there must be some, uh, less lovely things, too, when one thinks of it.

Gravatar Actually, MS, I beleive that Bill Clinton gave JP2 a horribly-tacky picture book ... of JP2 himself! Clinton apparently bought it on a shopcorner in Rome on his way to meet the Pope. But this could be an urban legend... still, it wouldn't surprise me that much.

Gravatar she doesn't have a head!

Gravatar And to think, all I got you was a plenary indulgence...

Gravatar LOL
Thomas ... you're too much!!!

Gravatar I read somewhere that Clinton gave JPII a cookbook.

Either way, it's still mighty tacky.

Gravatar I finally found the perfect container for my cat's petfood.

On second thought, this would be a smashing cookie jar.

Gravatar Is the Holy Father thinking, Ve should have picked the little vhite chest instead?
He does look pretty bored over this, just too polite to say anything, hee hee

Gravatar "It's...it's another vase. How am I gonna carry this back to the Vatican in the Popemobile?"

Gravatar "Holy Father, I brought you a giant bud vase."

Gravatar Funny, as usual.

Gravatar "Pope Benedict appears as a guest appraiser on Asia’s hit new version of PBS' Antiques Roadshow."

Gravatar "Is it supposed to be upside-down?"

Gravatar Someone stuffed the Motu in here, Holy Father, and we just can't get it out!

Gravatar Dishes. Like I need more dishes.

Gravatar Hmmmm....what I would really like is a hand knitted blanket.

Gravatar "Mother, forgive them, they know not what they do."

Gravatar Papa Benedetto was less than impressed by the gift of the "Do it yourself" lamp kit, esp since they forgot to bring the lamp shade.

Gravatar Jimi Hahn's is the best.

Gravatar "Really...its quite lovely. Can you show me again how it makes Nutella?"

Gravatar Who is more glazed over? Papa Benny or the vase? hmmmmmm.

NAT!

Gravatar Inventor shows Pope B16 a new Japanese lamp which is the most energy efficient and non-global warming in the world. One minor glitch, however: no lightbulb or lightshade (no wonder it is so 'green' friendly)

Gravatar Fr Trigilio,

Koreans don't take kindly to being called Japanese.

That's the President of the Republic of Korea (the most Christian country in Asia) presenting the Pope with a Celadon Maebyong with inlaid cloud and crane design.

Would like to know if it's 12th Century piece or a modern copy. Either way there is nothing cheap about this gift.

Gravatar "a Celadon Maebyong with inlaid cloud and crane design."

I'm an idiot. please splain that.

Gravatar inhocdig: It is a lovely vase, it's just that poor Papa looks like this is about the fifteenth one he's seen today. After a while the thrill is gone.
