Gravatar I saw the video of it on BBC World News last night. It's kind of sad and kumbayah-ish.

Gravatar "Okay, I can't help myself."

Still under the spell, perhaps, of a "wonderful vacation in Florida"?

Gravatar What's the problem? They're going to where people are to remind them of God and the Sacraments. Shouldn't we be happy that they are possibly availing themselves of Confession and praying the Rosary? Must we make fun just because it's not a beautiful stone church, or put them down for not doing it on their own?

People need nudging. This is a nudge, and I think it's a wonderful thing.

Gravatar That's right, Christina...it's a beautiful thing.." up ,up, and away...in my beautiful, my beautiful..."

Gravatar Oh, you're right sixth sense. How silly of me to think that helping people avail themselves of the Sacraments might be good, even if imperfect.

How ridiculous of me.

By the way, should I just not bother with Mass since my parish is not beautiful and plays a lot of Haugen/Haas drivel? Should I skip an imperfect Mass because it's got not a lick of Latin in it, or chant? Should I leave my parish because we don't have stained glass yet or statues all over? I mean, it's just not what it could be, just like Confession in this setting is not what it could be.

None of us worships in a perfect way, none of us receive the Sacraments in a perfect way (or at least very, very few of us). I can't see this as something bad. I only see good coming of it.

Gravatar Yes, don't bother with Mass. Wait for perfection...just kidding. I love the idea of an inflatable church! I told my priest about it years ago but he was afraid that he would keep the people waiting too long and we'd all be late for Mass{ he was under the wrong impression that he would have to use a bicycle pump--oh well.]

Gravatar At least it looks like a church. The Catholic Church by my house looks like a spaceship.

Gravatar I agree it's not the most desireable set-up, but like Christine said, at least they're ministering to the people and providing a (semi)religious area to do it in! If it's in a beach setting, perhaps it helps to have *walls* to keep eyes and minds focused on the sacraments and prayers..
