Let us remember too that European Fanta is tasty, resembling fresh orange juice mixed with seltzer water, whereas the American version tastes terrible, is nothing but sugar, and is no different than Sunkist.
Even if you can only get ahold of crummy American Fanta, do try a German "Spezi," which is half Fanta half Coke. Technically Fanta Limonade, iirc, but nice with orange, too.
I suspect the European stuff, even if tastier than the American, is loaded with sugar. I hope the Pope drinks the diet version. Sugar is bad, bad stuff.
The Germans also like a drink that's half beer, half lemonade, but I can't remember the name.

Regarding Fanta, my little brother served the Holy Father at lunch when he was in Altoetting, Bavaria, in 2006. He saw the Fanta bottles standing at the table, and he saw Prelate Gänswein removing them when a picture was taken (I suppose the Pope doesn't want to ad Fanta, either).
American Papist: Funny, I don't remember that name at all. But I liked it. Maybe it was extremely good beer and extremely good lemonade. Maybe I'm a sick, twisted freak.
The diet version is BAD in comparison with sugar. Aspartame is broken down into rubbing alcohol in the body, a poison. Sugar in excess is detrimental, but is not in and of itself, poisonous.
Papa Benedict surely likes Fanta-his autobiography contained a picture of him attending a picnic. He was drinking Fanta. :-)
Now I don't feel so bad about my 3-4 can daily habit of pop. I AM trying to give it up for Lent. Wish me luck!
