I attended the event, and while I cannot support Dodd's pro-abortion viewpoint, we cannot judge him as a person. Marginal at best is unfair for us to say. What actually happened was each candidate said how their politics are informed by their faith.

I can't agree with you. "Judge not lest ye be judged" is one of the most abused passages in all Scripture. Nobody is condemning Dodd to Hell, but we are right to confront a man who has brought such public scandal for so long. "Marginal at best" seems like a highly charitable description of the man's Catholicism.
