Since I discovered the FOCA gem a month or so ago, I've been emailing the McCain campaign begging them to hammer Obama with it. At the end of each email, I told them that, unless they do, they will lose the election.
Oh, well. Looks like their either don't read their emails or they thought I was just some insignificant fool.

I agree with the basic thrust that McCain really missed a gem and many interventions of Providence on this issue.
Still, I have hopes that he'll win. But if he does, it'll be by a smaller margin than he ought to have won by.

I totally agree. My wife and I only found out about FOCA recently and it was a big issue. We even blogged about how it was a deal breaker for voting for Obama. McCain wanted to paint Obama as a radical, yet somehow he never picked up on this, even though it is clearly a radical piece of legislation (hopefully so radical that it won't be able to make it through the Congress).

“…wish I’d known about this sooner…”
“I had never heard of FOCA”
Come on! If abortion is on your radar AT ALL, you would have found out about FOCA and Obama’s position. Heck, just reading this blog would have clued you in. This is a tad disingenuous.

CM,
Dude may be pro-life but may have assumed that Obama intended to adhere to the abortion "status quo", and, therefore assumed (incorrectly) that he could consider Obama for proportional reasons. When he found out about FOCA and realized that Obama wants to abandon the abortion legal "status quo" in favor of the absolute extreme.
These were the sentiments of many people I have spoken with in the last month. I don't think he's being sincere.

Freakin' horrible... I'm tired and I apologize. Corrections:
When he found out about FOCA and realized that Obama wants to abandon the abortion legal "status quo" in favor of the absolute extreme, he was instantly repulsed by Obama.
These were the sentiments of many people I have spoken with in the last month. I do think he's being sincere.

I have to agree with CM on this one. I have found stories/references to FOCA everywhere over the past few months.
