Not to nit-pick, but shouldn't people be discouraged from wearing rosaries? I think that's more prevalent in Latin America than in the States.
As far as the Catholic prejudice, unfortunately it is still alive in today's world.

I bet her parents won't have any trouble finding a lawyer to file a civil rights violation lawsuit against the school, the principal, and the teacher.

The same thing happened to me when I was 16.
Our English class was told to spend the last several minutes of class sitting quietly for some reason. I pulled out my rosary and started praying. The teacher told me "This time is for sitting quietly, not playing with your necklace." I told her "It's not a necklace, it's a rosary." She said "Well, put it away anyway."
I damn near slugged her.

I grew up in San Antonio where this charter school is and the majority of the population are Catholic Hispanics. I'll be very interested to see where this goes...

Why is the name of the teacher being withheld, and the name of the minor student public? Sauce for the goose time, folks.

Good catch. That slipped right under my radar.

"Ayala" is a Hispanic name. And for the umpteenth time, people are allowed to wear the Rosary. Nothing wrong with it. It may look weird to American Catholics of ethnic backgrounds that don't wear them, but there's a lot weirder things going on that are actually bad.
People who wear the Rosary purely for fashion or show are dweebs, of course. But of course some of those people are people who do love the Rosary but don't want to admit it, maybe even to themselves.

I admit I was wrong about wearing a rosary.
