McBrien, bon vivant, and dillatante theologian is going to be passing from the scene soon. He's a doubleknit dinosaur, hopelessly lost in the time warp of the 1960s. He's not respected by serious scholars at Notre Dame nor by the students for that matter. He's descended into the role of buffoon or carnival barker genre.
