I appreciate the pro wrestling reference, son! "Whatchya gonna do, Mitt Romney, when Huck-a-mania and the real Christian candidate run wild on you, brother?"
Over on the Democrat side, by the way, we have "If ya SMELLLLLLLLLL, what Ba-RACK is COOK-in!"

Station surfing last nite, I lighted upon Michael Savage ripping Huckabee. Anybody know why?, it wasn't clear.

I like Huck, but I think the clemency issue will be a problem for him. Also, I think that he is so far back in the money race he cannot catch up. He knows this and will be tempted to take the federal money, which will by him time but ultimately doom him.

I liked Huck in a "he would be a nice neighbor" way until he completely floundered on the death penalty question, and dismissed it by cracking a bad joke. Candidates who don't answer questions and openly don't will not receive my support.

Huckabee is the only GOP candidate who does not turn my stomach. That said, I actually really like him. He is intelligent, likable, and very pro-life.
Not to mention the fact that he trouncing the likes of Romney while still on 1/20th the budget. The fact that his campaign is doing so well with so little money is actually a really good plus. It testifies to both his economic skills as well as underlines the whole underdog come-from-behind plucky average joe story that carries so much currency for Americans.
I also think it is interesting that as his support increases, Guilliani's support wanes. I would have expected it to come from Romney's or other pro-life, religiously-minded candidate supporters.
Apparently, there are quite a few Guilliani supporters whose beliefs are at odds with his lifestyle choices.

Yes, Huck's rise is at the expense of Rudy, not Romney, which is interesting.

Huckabee is just another smooth talker from Hope, Arkansas. The clemency issue and his record as a tax and spender should be his undoing, or at least further fracture the GOP amongst Guiliani, Romney, Thompson and McCain.
Yup, Ron Paul 2008!

Medved on Huck's tax record:
http://michaelmedved.townhall.com/blog/
Huckabee has been instrumental in keeping his state's tax rates lower in 11 years as governor than Romney did in 4 years in his office.
From Huckabee's site:
Am I running for president to shut down the federal government? Not exactly. But I am running to completely eliminate all federal income and payroll taxes. And do I mean all - personal federal, corporate federal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment. All our hours filling out forms, all our payments for help with those forms, all our shopping bags filled with disorganized receipts, all our headaches and heartburn from tax stress will vanish.

Huck's clemency issues are bigger than the one rape case.
And his tax reform promises are smoke and mirrors nonsense. But it is garden variety smoke and mirrors nonsense for a presidential coampaign. I don't hold it against him. I think he's a decent man, and probably would make a decent president.

I could vote for a Huck/Fred or Fred/Huck ticket. However, anything involving Rudy, McCain, or Romney is simply unacceptable to a great many who consider themselves Conservatices.
That being said, Fred/Huck over Huck/Fred.

Huckabee is more unacceptable to this conservative than either McCain or Romney. I know McCain has rubbed us the wrong way on many an occasion over the past 7 years, but his actual record is pretty solid.
But your right about Rudy.

Remember, if you are Catholic, then abortion is your first issue, not taxes, security, crime or the death penalty.
Huckabee is the clear choice when life issues are considered. He's the only straight talker on this issue. As Fr. Pavone says, "would you vote for a terrorist who is good on taxes?" Pro-aborts are no better than terrorists and aren't fit to hold public office.
