Gravatar I know little boys who play at Mass. Quite seriously play.

This little guy, though, is apparently going straight for bishop! Note the zuccheto.

Gravatar It's a great poster, but I would have preferred ad orientem celebration, just like I used when I played priest decades ago! Also, the toy tabernacle is missing. Tom

Gravatar Cute! Some kids just get the idea pretty early on what they wanna be when they grow up.
Saw something similar on "Life is Worth Living", a picture of a little boy dressed in black robes like his hero, good Bishop Sheen, complete with chalkboard.

I just had a shuddering thought--that thoughtful little cherub is a BOY, isn't it?

Gravatar Ph/t: What is WDTPRS?

Gravatar jcd-WDTPRS is the acromyn for the blog by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf (sp?): "WHAT DOES THE PRAYER REALLY SAY?"

It's a great blog....he's known as "Fr. Z"!

Gravatar No claim to episcopal dignity. The little guy's zuchetto is black, as befits a simple priest. ;)

Gravatar The porch-setting reminds me of a B15 (not16) story, namely, that when he was a little boy, he used to step out onto his parents' balconey over-looking a busy street, and preach sermons to pedestrians. Too cool.

Gravatar IRISHGIRL: The blog is not accessible at the public library.

Gravatar That is so cute! Is this how His Holiness got his start? I understand that he and George used to play Mass as little boys!

Gravatar most Catholic kids played Mass as a child. ;) This is a great poster.

Gravatar Personally, I never played Mass. Instead, I heard Confessions. I did not become a priest. I did become a lawyer. Go figure.

Gravatar My husband reported today after seeing this poster that he used to play Mass on his dresser, and today he is a Deacon.

Too funny, my children would take sliced dill pickles and use for communion wafers, and they would say "Piece of Ice" instead of Body of Christ, it is amazing how they interpret.

Gravatar I absolutely love this poster. However, my very orthodox Diocese of Arlington gave it two thumbs down! Go figure.

Gravatar Unfortunately, too many Catholic adults are still "playing" Mass!

Gravatar Wow, this was me when I was about ten!

Gravatar Whenever I see pictures like this, my first thought is, "I feel so sorry for little kids who grow up Protestant."

Gravatar Hmmm, from the number of youthful admissions, maybe a blessed few really are born priests ;-).

Gravatar Oh, for CUTE!

Gravatar I'm told the poster will be made available to the public, and I'll post those details when they are given to me.

Gravatar What a wonderful advertisement.

Raleigh is blessed to have Bishop Burbidge as Shepherd!

Gravatar For what it's worth, several priests of my diocese have told me that they "played" at saying Mass when they were children. Grape juice and Neco wafers seem to have been the elements of choice. It was not easy back in those days to get wine.

If I am not mistaken, it is a crime for an adult to pretend to say Mass in public if he is not actually a priest.

In any event, this photo is now the wallpaper on my computer.

Gravatar STILL PLAYING.

Gravatar The above remark was rather unkind. Especially since "Anonymous" is not so anonymous.

Gravatar He looks like a little St Michael the Archangel :)! I also loved pretend Mass as a child! My poor Mom's lotion bottles always came off the dresser and became the communicants waiting in line. I love our Lord and His Church!
